Style Guide – How to style a Pink Top and Pants
Hello ladies,
How is your day going? Based on all the questions I get about fashion, my focus is going to be more on how to express yourself through your style, how to shop and style yourself for your body type, personality, budget and lifestyle. I’ll also share tips on the different ways to wear an outfit for different seasons and events, so you can always look fabulous but still get the most out of your clothes.
My look for today is built around this Pink Top from NY and Company and Purple Pants from ModChic Couture. I wanted to create 2 different looks without having to change my clothes so I decided to only change my accessories and outerwear.
Shopping Tips – I love fashion but when shopping, I shop on a budget. I love to get the most bang out of my buck, so I buy and wear a mix of high and low end products and style them so I look and feel like a million bucks. Style to me is never about brand names and price tags, it is personal, it is about looking and feeling your best and when shopping buy what can be easily styled to represent who you are. Everything in your wardrobe falls into 2 categories, wardrobe essentials or statement pieces which I’ll discuss further in upcoming posts.
Style Tip 1 – Layering is such a great way to wear your Spring/Summer clothes during Fall/Winter. It is also perfect for creating a different look because it is so effortless. You can layer with vests, blazers, jackets and coats and you can wear multiple layers based on the weather and look you’re going for.
Style Tip 2 – Accessories are also such a fun and easy way to change up your look. Sometimes accessories is what pulls your look together. You can switch styles, dress up or dress down just by changing your jewelry, shoes, handbags, scarves etc. Don’t be afraid to play with accessories, fashion is supposed to be fun, art and therapy all mixed in one.
Look 1 – I wore a blue tone African print vest from 3reec’s with my blue pumps from Shoedazzle and carried this pink convertible Henri Bendel shoulder handbag. This look is great for a warmer season like Spring or when transitioning into Fall. Also I know my top and pants are pink, but this can be recreated with any other colors to create another monochrome look, you can mix colors or you can keep it simple with black or white.
Look 2 – In this look I changed the vest to my pink coat from Ross, nude pumps from Christian Louboutin and used a lighter pink West 57th Henri Bendel satchel handbag with some floral details to complete my look. Because of the coat this will be great for Fall or Winter but if you lose the coat, you can rock this top and palazzo pants all year round.
Other Looks – This top and pants are great wardrobe essentials when shopping because they are very functional, versatile and yet stylish. You may get bold colors or go for something more neutral if you plan to use it as a wardrobe staple to style your other items. You can create other looks with this top. You can wear it with other types of pants like skinny jeans, straight pants or different styles and cut of skirts e.g. pleated, A-line, Pencil skirts for any occasional. Meanwhile the palazzo pants can be worn with a more structured shirt or with a T-shirt or crop top with sneakers for something more causal.
